Numerical calculation of multiphase flows
Fluid Mechanics Module, Master’s programme MB
4 contact hours per week
Overview
Students will be able to
- apply the fundamentals of numerical fluid dynamics to mechanical engineering problems
- to select and evaluate computational data and methods for fluid dynamics calculations in accordance with scientific criteria
- to select and evaluate computational data and methods in multiphase fluid mechanics, as well as the associated models, in accordance with scientific criteria
Contents
- Fundamentals and limitations of multiphase flow calculation
- Mathematical modelling of multiphase flows
- Modelling of dispersed systems (Euler–Lagrange, Euler–Euler modelling)
- Modelling of separated systems (volume-of-fluid modelling)
- Selected topics in multiphase flow calculation (population balances, volumetrically resolved particles, Discrete Element Method (DEM))
