Lehrstuhl für Strömungsmechanik - Chair of Fluid Mechanics

Sebastian Burgmann

Dr.-Ing., Senior Academic Advisor

Dr. Sebastian Burgmann earned his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, focusing on the application of laser-optical flow measurement techniques to study separation phenomena on airfoils. He then conducted research on fuel cells, specifically on the effects of multiphase flows. Currently, his focus is on researching sprays, droplets, and film flows with applications in areas such as filtration and purification. To this end, he employs various optical and laser-optical methods, such as shadowgraphy, LDV, and PIV.

Bergische Universität Wuppertal

Department of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering

Sebastian Burgmann is currently conducting research focused in particular on aspects of temporal changes in multiphase flows, such as the cleaning effect of undulating film flows or the coupling of gas flow and droplet growth, analogous to fuel cells. The analysis relies, among other things, on the use of laser-optical velocity measurement techniques such as PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) and LDV (Laser Doppler Velocimetry) at small geometric scales.
