Hendrik Gesell's research topic is the thermal flexibility at the production of primary aluminum in Hall-Heroult process. For this simulations are performed with OpenFOAM® CFD software. Therein the modulation of energy input, the influence of a lower temperature level and the interaction of magnetic fields and heat balance are examined.
